bold lips for summer

I love the look of minimal eye makeup and bold, bright lips for summer.
I used...for eyesColor Stick for Eyes in Morning Haze (along brows), Seashell (on lids), and Coastal (in crease). These new Color Sticks for Eyes are super creamy and easy to apply. I usually dust with Powder to give it all day staying power and keep it from creasing. I added a small amount of Eyeliner in Bark along my top lashes only and finished with two coats of SuperWear Mascara.

I used...for lipsColor Stick for Lips in Cordial. This new lip color stick is amazingly creamy and long lasting. It's great to throw in your purse and won't melt if you leave it in the car.

Hoping your day is sunny and bright!!!

more prom makeup

Say hello to Felicia, who so kindly let me take pictures when I did her makeup for prom.

I evened out her skin tone using Mineral Photo Touch Foundation without completely covering her freckles. When you have freckles why try to hide them? Own them, it's who you are.

I thickened up her somewhat over-plucked brows with a SuperWear Brow Definer Pen.  Your brows are like a picture frame for your eyes so don't underestimate what great brows can do for you. :)

Botanical Shadow Primer was used as a base for her eye makeup to ensure her "look" would stay put for the entire evening. Two shades of Shadow were used along with Creme Liner and three coats of SuperWear Mascara to make her crazy naturally long lashes look even longer and thicker.

These two photos are courtesy of her wonderful mom, Lena.

Hair was done by the talented Bambi Wagers.

Felicia, you look beautiful and once again I had a wonderful time working with you!

Amber's prom makeup

Say hello to Amber, whose makeup I did for prom a few weeks ago.

She wore a beautiful green dress, fabulous earrings, and her hair was amazing (done by Sandra at Sheer Professionals in Wooster, OH), all of which I wanted to compliment with her makeup.

I gave her bold brows using Brush on Brow in Blonde to balance her "sculpted" hairstyle. On her eyes I used a light neutral shadow, a bronze shadow and added a splash of green in her inner corner to compliment the color in her dress. Creme Liner in Mahogany blended into her shadow and a few coats of Superwear Mascara finished her look.

When adding the same color of shadow that you are wearing doing it in smaller areas only will keep it from looking to "matchy-matchy" and like it's Amber's "green day".

Amber, thank you for allowing me the privilege of doing your makeup and sharing your pictures. You are beautiful!

prom makeup 2012

A few pictures of prom makeup I did last week.

Say hello to Tammy and her gorgeous eyes! Tammy wanted her eyes to be the focal point of her "look", trust me she doesn't need makeup to make that happen.

I wanted to compliment her dress and hair (which was done by Anita at Dexterity Salon).

I used two very light, neutral shadows with lots of Creme Liner in Mahogany and 3 coats of Superwear Mascara.

I used Mineral Photo Touch Foundation to give her skin a flawless finish, Mineral Blush in Pink Quartz to give her a rosy glow and Luxury Gloss in Pale Petal to compliment the color and sequins in her dress.

Tammy, thank you for letting me share your pictures. You are beautiful!

JR Makeup Consult

Say hi to Sam! Her mentor and friend, Cindy, gifted her with a JR Makeup consultation at Rig & Co.. I (Rhoda) had the pleasure of working with her, teaching her makeup techniques that are age appropriate for a 15 year old while still matching her personality.

Sam has a very outgoing personality and loves bright, bold makeup, hair and clothes. I showed her how to use bold makeup and still look age appropriate and pretty. Like I told her "we want to see the beautiful you first, and your makeup as an enhancer."
Makeup should always enhance who we are, not cover it up.

Below is a list of some of the products used...

I used Mineral Liquid Powder Foundation to even out her skin tone and give her a shine-free look that will last all day. This is an amazing foundation for someone who tends to have oilier skin.

Mineral Photo Touch Concealer was used to conceal dark areas under her eyes and will also be great if she has any blemishes.

Luxe Creme Liner is the eyeliner I chose for Sam since she has oilier skin and her eyeliner tends to smudge throughout the day giving her the dreaded "punched in the eye" look. I applied it using a Shadow Liner Brush, which is also wonderful for softening any/all eyeliners.

SuperWear Mascara is waterproof and will stay put for about 3 days if not removed with Makeup Remover. It is a thinner formula and the wand has plastic bristles which is lash lengthening and gives great coverage.

Luxury Gloss in Pink Peony was added for a fun punch of color to her lips.

Sam, thank you for letting me share your pictures. It was a privilege working with you.

Thicker Fuller Brows are here to stay

Achieve the perfect brow shape by following these 3 golden rules and the bestselling brow products.

The Starting Line
Draw an imaginary line straight above the middle of your nostril using the Brow Definer Brush to show where your brow should begin. Using Brush On Brow in the appropriate shade, brush in small upward and outward strokes to fill in sparse hairs and create fullness.
For a bolder, dramatic brow (or if you have very little or no brows) use Superwear Brow Definer and apply in a similar manner.
If you have great brows but are very light apply Brow Tint in the appropriate shade in a similar manner as you would apply mascara to your lashes.

The Finish Line
Hold the Brow Definer Brush against the side of the nostril and extend it to the outside corner of the eye. The brush will lead you to where the brow should end.

The Peak
Hold the Brow Definer Brush at the tip of the nose, pointing diagonally towards the iris of the eye to lead the way to a perfectly placed arch.

After creating your new eyebrow with your favorite shades and products, comb and set hair in place with Brow Set.

This post is by Tori of Cotton Candy Ink who did a review of Rig & Co.'s newest products. Thank you Tori it was a pleasure working with you. ~ Rhoda

Hello everyone, today I will be reviewing R!G & CO cosmetics. I was given the opportunity to review some of their newest products and I was more than glad to. I was sent 5 items (listed below)

So I decided to do a look using every single one of these products and to show the coverage of the tinted primer and powder foundation I did NOT use any foundation only concealer on my under eye are (no where else).

WARNING: NO MAKEUP!!

No makeup whatsoever ONLY day moisturizer (you can see all my freckles & veins)

after tinted primer only

after foundation powder (concealer & eye primer)

after applying blush (and filling in my brows)

after applying shadow

after applying gloss (also applied mascara, liner to top and bottom lash line as well as highlight)

final look using all products sent to me (and very few of my own)

my thoughts:

~ tinted primer: this product is creamy and blends in effortlessly the color matched my skin tone perfectly. it wasn't heavy feeling at all very smooth application. gave sheer to light coverage
love it or leave it? LOVE it

~ baked hydrating powder foundation: this gave a velvety finish to my skin and did not look too powdery at all. color matched my skin perfectly and blended very well into my skin. was not thick and felt like skin.
love it or leave it? LOVE it

~ baked blush: this is very pigmented blush and a little goes a long way. love the finish and the color swatch is true to packing.
love it or leave it? LOVE it

~ baked marbleized shadow: this could be used as one color but i decided to use the 2 colors separately and the colors where pigmented and very easy to blend.
love it or leave it? LOVE it

~ luxury gloss: this stuff smells so yummy (kinda like cinnamon gum)!! this lipgloss is truly great in every way. was not too thick, went on smooth and very pigmented.
love it or leave it? LOVE it
